There is no single price for a security guard. A quote reflects the hours you need, the type of post and the risk at your site. Knowing the factors helps you compare proposals fairly.
Hours and schedule
Coverage that runs 24 hours a day needs several officers per week, while a few hours of evening patrol needs far fewer. Nights, weekends and holidays are often priced differently from weekday daytime.
Type of post
A lobby concierge, a gate officer, a roving patrol and a fire watch each need different training and equipment. The more specialized the duties, the more the post requires from the officer.
Site and risk
A site with several entrances, a history of incidents or heavy visitor traffic usually needs more planning than a small, quiet office. A walkthrough lets the security company size the post to the real risk.
Comparing quotes
Ask each company the same questions: is the officer an employee, what training is provided, who supervises the post, what insurance is carried, and what reports you will receive. The lowest hourly number is not always the lowest real cost.
